Recently I've been noticing my left lat and left trap aren't growing the same rate as my other side. And when I'm doing my back routine, the left side doesn't get as much of a pump or sore as my right. Anyone else have anything like this? Know of any way to fix it?? 17 comments (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) 86% Upvoted This thread is archived New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast Sort by (BUTTON) best [23](BUTTON) best[24] (BUTTON) top[25] (BUTTON) new[26] (BUTTON) controversial[27] (BUTTON) old[28] (BUTTON) q&a (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [29]victoriousbonaparte 7 points [30]3 years ago I've been trying to do something simple to correct/avoid this: when loading / removing plates, carry them with your weaker hand. Ms small gesture that over a one hour gym session will definitely help the traps on that side. (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [31]nntaylor7 1 point [32]3 years ago Kind of agree here. Had the same problem with left pec and started doing this. Feels like I can flex it better now and it gets a better pump. Use dumbbells and give extra attention to the area you want to bring up. (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [deleted] 2 points [35]3 years ago By extra attention do you mean more reps? Higher weight with the left hand side? (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [36]StuWard Military, Powerlifting (Recreational) 1 point [37]3 years ago All of the above. (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [38]Kdawg19 3 points [39]3 years ago Try utilizing your lats when you do a pull-up more. This has worked for me. When you hang from the bar, let your weight pull you all the way down, you'll notice that the beginning part of pulling is done with the lats. This is where you can get some size in the lats, by really focusing on pushing as hard as you can with your lats to get yourself up, then using your arms towards the end of the pull-up. Also, don't start with your right when doing one sided rows, etc...instead start with your left on every lift. The weaker side should always be worked out first (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) Comment deleted[40]3 years ago(0 children) (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [deleted] 1 point [41]3 years ago Are you doing switch grip on deadlift? for me i got a slight trap and bicep imbalance were my left ones were slightly bigger from using my left hand as the under hand too much. If that's the case for you also, try using the opposite hand as the under hand along with unracking weights with it more often as the other guy said, that should sort it out over time. (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [deleted] 1 point [45]3 years ago I did too at first, felt like i was lower for some reason, stick at it you get use to it quickly. (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [deleted] 1 point [46]3 years ago I haven't even thought about that as a possibility. I've been using the alt grip for years and never switched it up. I try to do as much as possible with my left hand, in hopes it will catch up lol (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [deleted] 1 point [47]3 years ago If you aren't powerlifting, you could you straps for your deadlifts as well so you don't have to over under (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [deleted] 1 point [48]3 years ago I do use straps when needed, but mostly just use chalk, i don't like limiting my grip strength too much by overusing them. (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [deleted] 1 point [49]3 years ago I feel ya, my grip is my limiting thing on most of my back exercises, so I use straps real often. (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [50]StrongerRon 1 point [51]3 years ago Same extra problem dude... My left lat is bigger because I'm a lefty. (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [deleted] 1 point [52]3 years ago It kinda sucks, but I'm sure it'll even it's self out. Hell it's probably something only we notice lol (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [deleted] 1 point [53]3 years ago My lats look pretty imbalanced, but they are just as strong when it comes to dumbell rows and everything (as far as I can tell). For me, I had separated my right shoulder a few times playing football as a kid, and now it just hangs slightly different, giving the appearance of a solid imbalance. Not sure if that could be your issue at all. (BUTTON) share (BUTTON) Save (BUTTON) (BUTTON) [deleted] 2 points [54]3 years ago I have broken both collarbones. And one healed improperly, but I think it's my right. I'm not sure. It's a very good possibility.
