Her aunt replied: "If there isn't, it sure is sad. Very sad...all the pain and suffering we experience on earth, just to find out its all for nothing." We must know in our soul, mind and hearts, that there is retribution and redemption. There is a terrible end for those who have sinned and done wrong will go. Just like on earth if you get too many DUIs, you will have a revoked license, sent to jail, or if you assault someone you must pay for your crimes. I am writing on the subject of hell because I feel people have lost the true meaning of hell and why it should exist. I have heard arguments which ran something like: "There's hell on earth! What can be worse than death, dying and taxes?" Well, for those who are not obeying God's moral codes, and for those who get away with murder, rape, lying, and cheating, there is an absolute judgment call. How can there not be a hell? People today want to believe that this is it. We live here, die here, and then thats all folks. I'd like to ask: what is next? What about the sad, violent life here on earth? If we are truly living in hell on earth, then I would like to believe that there is a merciful God who has created a heaven for us in the clouds. Just like people who have done evil things have a nice, toasty place to rest in. I was reading the Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult, and in the novel, her main character writes a comic book similar to Faust's journey to hell. In one scene there is a place where adulterers go. In the sketch their souls are bound together forever by their tongues and intestines. ? I mention this book because of this: Even when it comes to sanctity in marriages, which God honors, there has to be repercussions for those who cheat. How dare we hurt people's feelings and turn our behavior over to wickedness and have the audacity to believe that we are still going to be "caught up on the clouds" Not so. This is not a preachy article, but a realistic article. How can we believe in jail and not hell? I think it is because we can see the physical jails. What about those hurts, those pains, those things in which we feel but are not tangible? I do agree that some people are locked in their own personal hell cells, waiting to burst free, hoping for someone to pay that bail and rescue them. I ask all of you to give serious thought to what happens next. Think about all those things that aren't right with the world, all the people who are wicked and happy about it. Where do they go if not to jail in this life? What about those who have done right, and sought after God? Where do they go? If it's back to the dust, then they have lost nothing. But woe to those who never believed and lose everything. Learn more about this author, Author Name Withheld 228. Click here to send this author comments or questions.
