By The Lords Grace "Living for Christ one day at a time" * Home * Welcome * Receive Christ * Kits For Kids * Devotional * Studies God shouldn't have called you God Shouldn't Have Called You There are many reasons why God shouldn't have called you. But don't worry. You're in good company. Moses stuttered. David's armor didn't fit. John Mark was rejected by Paul. Timothy had ulcers. Hosea's wife was a prostitute. Amos' only training was in the school of fig-tree pruning. Jacob was a liar. David had an affair. Solomon was too rich. Abraham was too old. David was too young. Peter was afraid of death. Lazarus was dead. John was self-righteous. Naomi was a widow. Paul was a murderer. So was Moses. Jonah ran from God. Miriam was a gossip. Gideon and Thomas both doubted. Jeremiah was depressed and suicidal. Elijah was burned out. John the Baptist was a loudmouth. Martha was a worry-wart. Mary was lazy. Samson had long hair. Noah got drunk. Did I mention that Moses had a short fuse? So did Peter, Paul--well, lots of folks did. But God doesn't require a job interview. He doesn't hire and fire like most bosses, because He's more our Dad than our Boss. He doesn't look at financial gain or loss. He's not prejudiced or partial, not judging, grudging, sassy, or brassy, not deaf to our cry, not blind to our need. As much as we try, God's gifts are free. We could do wonderful things for wonderful people and still not be Wonderful. Satan says, "You're not worthy." Jesus says, "So what? I AM." Satan looks back and sees our mistakes. God looks back and sees the cross. He doesn't calculate what you did in '78. It's not even on the record. Sure. There are lots of reasons why God shouldn't have called us. But if we are magically in love with Him, if we hunger for Him more than our next breath, He'll use us in spite of who we are, where we've been, or what we look like. I pray that as Christians, we will step out of our limitations into the unlimitable nature of who God is. Then our passion for God and our passion to communicate Him will make short work of our limitations. ~ author unknown ~ When sin attacks... Lately I've meditated and studied on what sin is and the power it really has. I've realized, from my own personal life, that when sin is left to it's own devices it can bond a person. The fact is simple, not only is the devil roaming around looking for who to devour, he is also searching for who to grab ahold and bind. When we consider the behavior of a lion what we can see is that they plot, wait, and when they are ready they pounce. After they have wrestled enough with their prey, and realized that the prey has lost all control they go in for the kill. Within my own life I had to face the fact that there was an unattended area that was left open for the enemy to enter. He would growl, take moments and roar with sin, look me in the eyes, and when he saw I left an area unattended he ran in. He soon found himself on me and taking stabs at me. Sin slowly waits and when you have left an area not prayerfully considered, it comes in and grabs a hold. My brothers and sisters in Christ sin is real and it's power is real. My unattended sin would throw me like a lion. One day it would let me take a breath, the next day it was pounding me. I was left breathing hard not knowing if I would ever get up. My brothers and sisters the devil surrounds us every day waiting to get an in, waiitng to bring you into bondage. Make you feel unforgiven. Make you feel that you have no hope. Make you feel as if God has stopped listening. The worst mistake you can make is given up. Never give up! Never give up! I exhort you brothers and sisters, if you need to crawl back to the saving power of the Lord Jesus Christ, then do it. It is not over, and the devil has no authority. Just as the Lord closed the mouth of those lions, with Daniel, He can and will shut the mouth of that lieing devil. Christ has overcome, He has died for our sins, and He wants us to truly be free indeed. Don't allow one more waking moment in your sin. Give it up, read God's truth, and move towards Him for His forgiving mercy. I pray that in Jesus' name we can obtain the grace, mercy, and eternal salvation He offers. How good god is! i happened to be reading a devotional type of study and there was a question asking about my thoughts on something that I felt that God was getting to in my life. The first word that came to mind was redeemed. Recently God has taken me to a new level of humbling and getting bringing me to my knees. To the knees of recognizing who He is and my submission to Him. In this day and age we are so wrapped in the day to day, and we often forget the meaning of this life and the reason why we breath. I speak to the imperfect believer now, to the ones out there who recognize that they are broken and are in need of a healer. I've realized more and more that I am worthless and nothing without Him. That I need Him in every area of my life. During this time the Lord has shined a light upon my own sins and I am grateful for it, because it came after a time when I was crying out to the Lord for help and just finding myself crying because I felt hopeless and without direction. He sent His loving presence and His loving touch and let me know that He really loved me. He also let me know that that's why He came here to help, because His blood shed was to deal with the fact that I couldn't make it without Him. I couldn't make it without His Spirit. The Lord speaks to everyone who reads this to let you know that He see's your pain, He see's your struggle, He understands your downfalls, and He wants you to surrender to Him, to give that to HIm and allow Him to work in your life. He wants to show the enemy that His power is greater, that He has the final say, but we must cry out to Him and surrender and seek refuge under the wings of the almighty. His name is Jesus Christ, and to this day not one feather has fallen, not one chip has broken, not one word found useless, nothing, He is perfect in all He does. I thank you Father for your son, for your love, and for your help. Beloved, let Him do this in you also. In Jesus name, Amen. Resurrection Ephesians 2:1-5 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. 4But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. I speak to those who struggle. I speak to those who struggle with the bonds of death. Death in sin, death in legalism, death in whatever bonds that keep you away from the Lord Jesus Christ. As I sit here and write for the first time this year I sit here with a humbled heart. This passage that the Lord has ordained for me to read this evening has broken through bonds of death that needed to be broken. I praise God for His Word, for His power, for His might, for His mercy. This scripture is in no need of special revelation. It is the precious word of our God that gives us a promise that our deaths can be broke, that resurrection is attainable, through His grace. As we go through the death marches of life and fill ourselves with the gratifying cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. We are specially ordained by God to hear from Him that we can be resurrected in Christ. That He wants to reach out to our souls and grab them so that they be resurrected from the dead. He sees our deaths, He sees our struggles, He sees our weaknesses, He sees our failures, He sees our sins, but yet His divine grace and mercy is reaching out to us and wants to resurrect us. He wants to save us and resurrect us anyway. I am in no way deserving of this grace and mercy but yet He wants us to have it, He wants me to have it. I pray that in the name of Jesus we can all receive this wonderful gift. Allow Him room to flow into your life to resurrect you, in the name of Jesus Amen. Listen to the words, and let it minister us all. This video is by Casting Crowns, entitled Slow Fade. This video really shows us that our fall does not come from one second to the next, it a progression of sin that leads to more sin and eventually to the fall. video that inspires FriaJP@By The Lords Grace.com Create a Free Website
