Carousel [EMBED] Amazon.com Widgets [IMG] Monday, March 22, 2010 Bay Area Concert Calendar (San Francisco Indie Music Schedule for March 22-March 28) This is a very busy week of some great shows. Ted Leo at Great American Music Hall; My old favorite college band, the nadas at hotel utah; Cymbals Eat Guitars, Bear in Heaven and Freelance Whales all in one show at the bottom of the hill and Titus Andronicus at Slims. Its going to be an exhausting week, but pretty freaking awesome. Tuesday: Ted Leo and the Pharmacists @ Great American Music Hall Thanks to a good friend at work for getting me tickets to this show. I've never seen Ted Leo, but pretty excited about the show. Contrast that with... Wednesday: The Nadas @ Hotel Utah $8 for tickets (will call only) I've seen the Nadas probably as much as I've seen any band. They're from Iowa State and play some good old corn-fed folk music. Playboy listed them as the best college band you've never heard of back in the early 2000's. There are very few folks that graduated from Iowa State in the mid 90s-mid 2000's that probably don't have a special place in their heart for the nadas. Wednesday: Metric @ The Fox Theater I've seen metric before and it was a really good show. I'll probably not go because of the nadas show. But, you won't be disappointed if you do go. Thursday: Cymbals Eat Guitars, Bear In Heaven, Freelance Whales @ Bottom the Hill (SOLD OUT!) This show is going to be pretty fantastic and I'm surprised that you can see all these bands on one night. Cymbals Eat Guitars was on my best albums of 2009 list, Scott Orn over at Kenny Kellogg has been playing alot of Freelance Whales (and bought me a ticket) and Beth Stevens at Gonzo Girl clued us both into them. Going to be a great show and a late night. Friday: Neon Indian @ Mezzanine This show will be full of hipsters. I liked the Neon Indian album, but its just not clear to me that they'll be that good live. Still, if it weren't for all the other great shows this week, I'd likely be going to this one. Sunday: Titus Anrondicus @ Slims What can I say that I haven't already said about this band. I've already seen them once, at a 1/4 full bottom of the hill and that show was great. They certainly bring their emotion to the stage, a very punk influenced show. I can't wait.
